people are going to prison and getting raped and dying for those issues

even if they affect less people directly

Yes, because god forbid people protest the erosion of free speech and corporate control.

And nobody protesting SOPA also cares about or works for those other causes mentioned above — and certainly not in any capacity beyond shaming people on the Internet, which is, as we know, what makes you a Good And Upstanding Person.

Stop judging other people’s advocacy. It’s shitty.

THANK YOU PUEL. People can care about more than one issue, guys! And there is no rule that says focussing on one issue for a period of time means you must stop working towards other goals as well. I have seen this mentality way too much, online and off, and it’s frankly baffling. Just because you’re speaking out about issue A this week doesn’t mean everything you said about issue B in the past is now irrelevant, and certainly doesn’t mean that you won’t continue to speak out about both issue B and issue A in the future.
